Dendritic agates are an obsession of mine. They look for all the world like plants or sea creatures, but they are natural stones, formed over millions of years as minerals seeped through miniscule cracks in the rock. Dendritic agates have been used in jewelry since antiquity. They were particularly popular with the Victorians.

This dendritic agate is golden yellow with black plant-like inclusions and tiny red flecks. To me, it is a reminder of both ephemerality and permanence, the shortness of life and the long endurance of the physical world. And the fact that it's a ring means that you get to stare at it while you wear it.

The stone is set in fine silver and argentium sterling silver, a patented form of sterling. Argentium is 100% recycled and contains 94% fine silver (as opposed to 92.5% for regular sterling). It is tarnish-resistant and hypoallergenic. It contains no nickel.

The band is about 4mm wide and rounded on the inside so it is very comfortable to wear.
